With pilgrims systematically-spaced out in St. Peter's Square due to coronavirus measures, Pope Francis began the Angelus.
He reflected on two areas the pandemic has brought attention to. The first is refugees, in coherence with the UN's World Refugee Day.

The coronavirus crisis has highlighted the need to ensure the necessary protection for refugees too, in order to guarantee their dignity and safety.
Second of all, Pope Francis looked at how the crisis affected the environment and the globe at large.

The lockdown has reduced pollution and revealed once more the beauty of so many places free from traffic and noise. Now, with the resumption of activities, we should all be more responsible for looking after the common home.
He also reflected on the Gospel message: “Do not be afraid.” The pope mentioned three situations in which Jesus warned the disciples they could face fear.

They are like the three temptations: to sugar-coat the Gospel, to water it down; second, persecution; and third, the sensation that God has abandoned us.
The pope remembered that despite these moments, which can provoke fear, Jesus asks not to be afraid. Instead, He reminds the disciples that their lives rest firmly in the hands of God, who loves and looks after them.
