Monday, May 18 marks 100 years since John Paul II was born, the pontiff who led the Church on the way to the third millennium.
He took more than 100 trips to different parts of the world, fought communist totalitarianism, reformed Vatican structures, and deepened theology in fields, such as sexuality.
In an online meeting, the postulator of his cause for canonization stressed that John Paul II's lessons are still being learned.

Postulator, Canonization Cause John Paul II
'John Paul II is a phenomenon that will have to be explored for a long time.'
Slawomir Oder is also in charge of collecting information for the cause of canonization of John Paul II's parents.
In the Vatican, 100 years of John Paul II will be highly remembered. The pope will celebrate Mass at his predecessor's grave in one of the side chapels of St. Peter's Basilica. It was John Paul II who appointed Jorge Mario Bergoglio bishop in 1992 and cardinal in 2001.
