The coronavirus has made its way into the pope's agenda yet again, causing two of his global events to be postponed.

The Vatican spokesman explained that due to the current health situation and its impacts on travel and on countless youth and their families, the World Meeting of Families, originally set to take place in Rome in 2021, and World Youth Day, previously scheduled for 2022, will now be celebrated a year later.

Now the World Meeting of Families will take place in Rome in 2022.

World Youth Day will take place in Lisbon in 2023.

The previous World Meeting of Families was held in Dublin in August 2018, and around 300,000 people participated.

The previous WYD was held in Panama, in January 2019. About 700,000 people were present.
