The Vatican “welcomes” the Australian judicial authority's decision to acquit Cardinal Pell of the accusations of abuse of minors and to overturn his six-year prison sentence.
The Holy See explains it “has always expressed confidence in the Australian judicial authority.” It states also that during the process, the cardinal always maintained his innocence.
The Vatican took the opportunity to reaffirm “its commitment to preventing and pursuing all cases of abuse against minors.”
