In his daily, live-streamed Mass, Pope Francis spoke about St. Joseph on his feast day. He said he was a “righteous” man, who lived out his faith.
POPE FRANCIS
He was chosen to raise a man that was truly man and also God. A man-God was needed to educate a man like this, but he didn't exist. So God chose a “righteous” man, a man of faith. A man who was able to be man and able to speak with God, to enter into the mystery of God. This was Joseph's life.
Pope Francis said Joseph's ability to enter into the mystery of God, which he couldn't control, is what characterized him.
Pope Francis thus prayed that all priests and religious men and women could likewise enter into the mystery of God. He said this mystery is not dreaming, but rather worshiping God.
