Almost 20 bishops from the central-west region of Brazil met with Pope Francis, marking the start of a new cycle of ad limina visits. During their stay in Rome, they will visit the Holy See's various dicasteries to exchange impressions and projects in their respective dioceses.

Washington Cruz, archbishop of Goiãnia, gave Pope Francis an impressive gift on behalf of the Pai Eterno, or Eternal Father Sanctuary. In 2016, the sanctuary collected signatures to petition Pope Francis to bless the new shrine, currently under construction, and visit it.

The meeting with the pope was held a day before the Vatican's presentation of the post-synod apostolic exhortation on the Amazon. This document may have been included with the ones Pope Francis gave to the Brazilian bishops at the end of their meeting.
