With this gesture, Francesco Patton, the Custos of the Holy Land, lit up the world's largest Christmas tree.
It is in the town of Gubbio, in Italy. It has more than 27,000 feet of cables and over 300 lights distributed by this mountain.
The town's project made it all the way to Guinness World Records, as the world's biggest Christmas tree. It is about 2,100 feet tall and 1,100 feet wide. That's a total of about 30 soccer fields.
In Italy it is so famous that even Benedict XVI lit it in 2011. He was in charge of the task back then. This year, the Custos of the Holy Land was chosen, in commemoration of 800 years since St. Francis' pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
