During the Angelus on the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, Pope Francis called Christians to follow Mary's example of humility and service.

POPE FRANCIS
“She is a masterpiece, but she remains humble, small, poor. In her is reflected the beauty of God, which is all love, grace and self-gift.”

The pope recalled Mary's visit to her pregnant cousin, Elizabeth. He said this act of service was a concrete result of Mary's “yes” to God's call.

POPE FRANCIS
“The availability toward God is revealed in the availability to care for the needs of one's neighbor.

After the Angelus, the pope remembered Giacomo Miller, a religious brother and educator martyred in Guatemala in 1982. He was beatified on Saturday.

The pope also asked those present to pray for the Normandy Format meeting being held on Monday in Paris. The Presidents of Ukraine, Russia and France, and the Federal Chancellor of Germany will discuss ways to end the on-going conflict in eastern Ukraine.
