The pope met with members of one of the oldest Italian associations of notaries. This year the organization is celebrating its 100th anniversary.
In his address, Pope Francis reminded them that a spirit of service is crucial in their field.
POPE FRANCIS
“We live in a social context increasingly marked by the desire to compete on the “freeway” of profit, which requires always traveling in the fast lane to pass others. You are called to live out your role in an authentic spirit of service.”
The pope told them that with their work of mediation, they can make society more human, as long as they meet some requirements.

“Technical competence and moral integrity are a guarantee of the ability to correctly carry out this public service. These are necessary values in every profession, but they are essential for you.”
Lastly, Pope Francis asked those present to be charitable and to put the common good before any other interest.
