The pope said goodbye to Thailand, the 48th country he has visited during the six and a half years of his pontificate. The trip was marked by interreligious dialogue. Pope Francis met with the country's Supreme Buddhist Patriarch. He also met with 18 local religious leaders at Chulalongkorn University, the country's most important university.
At the same time, the trip has revitalized the country's small Catholic community. Of its 65 million inhabitants, only 389,000 are Catholic. They have 16 bishops for a territory slightly larger California.
