These were the cries heard from the Managua Cathedral, in Nicaragua. They mark a new chapter of violence against the local Church.
A pro-government mob entered the church and after a strong exchange of words, they began to administer blows to the vicar of the cathedral, Rodolfo López and Sr. Arelys Guzmán.
The Archdiocese of Managua also said in a statement this violent group broke “the locks of the bell tower and other locks of the temple, thus desecrating the Church.”
They asked President Daniel Ortega and the vice president to take immediate action to ensure all Catholic temples are respected. They urged the national police to withdraw their troops that besiege and intimidate the Cathedral and other parishes.
