This lively group of pilgrims made the long journey from Peru to Rome to reaffirm their faith and see Pope Francis in St. Peter's Square.
“What is our group called? Pilgrims of Peru!”
“We are on a pilgrimage to the place that is the heart of our Catholic faith.”
“We are authenticating our faith and our love. We are taking the experience, the unity, the unification of family.”
During his address, Pope Francis used the example of Aquila and Priscilla, a Christian couple appearing in the Acts of the Apostles who led lives of holiness in marriage. With that in mind, this married couple happily recounted their experience of receiving the pope's blessing.
“On this occasion, my husband and I are celebrating 40 years of marriage. It's a great joy to be here and to have received the pope's blessing as a married couple.”
This woman shared her take-away from the pope's address.
“In the Eternal City, the pope has told us that as a family, as married people, we have to be the living Church. We must follow the path of faith, charity, and hope.”
The group plans on visiting other places in Italy, particularly the Marian sanctuaries. Proud of their country and their newly solidified faith, they joyfully continue on their journey.
