Every year on Oct. 22, the Catholic Church commemorates the liturgical feast of St. John Paul II.
It's on that date because on this day in 1978, he officially began his pontificate.
“Don't be afraid. He alone has words of eternal life.”
Although this year is not a round anniversary, Pope Francis recalled it with this message on Twitter. The pope thanked God for the good that St. John Paul II did “in the world and in our hearts” with his “words, actions and holiness.”
Each day, thousands of people stop to pray before his tomb in St. Peter's Basilica.
Few people know that the Vatican has a webcam making it possible to visit this place from any device connected to the internet.
It's a way of remembering this universal saint.
