During Sunday's Angelus, the pope recalled that it was World Mission Day and asked for prayers for those who left their homelands to bring Christianity to other places.

He also said that all Christians, wherever they are, must give positive testimony to their life of faith.

POPE FRANCIS
Believers are called to carry everywhere, with new impetus, the good news that in Jesus mercy overcomes sin, hope overcomes fear, fraternity overcomes hostility.

The pope asked for prayers for missionaries and recalled that on Saturday, Alfredo Cremonesi, a missionary martyred in Burma in 1953, was beatified in Italy. Pope Francis asked for applause for him.

POPE FRANCIS
May his example lead us to be workers in brotherhood and courageous missionaries in every environment.

Hundreds of Peruvians that live in Rome carried the image of the Christ of Miracles in procession to St. Peter's Square.

The pope thanked them and asked that although they are far from home, that they preserve the faith and traditions of their people.
