This morning, Pope Francis continued to reflect on the scenes in the book of the Acts of the Apostles.
He recalled that the first evangelization was not a marketing strategy created by the apostles, but rather an effect of persecution. The pope announced that Christians must accept that their paths will be difficult.
POPE FRANCIS
In the book of Acts, persecution is a permanent state in the life of the disciples. In accordance with what Jesus said, “If they persecute me, they will also persecute you.”
The pope also explained how evangelization should be done. He said that people must keep in mind that the Holy Spirit is the leader.
POPE FRANCIS
Father, I am going to evangelize! How? I announce the Gospel and who Jesus is and try to convince the people that Jesus is God. Dear, this is not evangelization. If the Holy Spirit isn't present, it isn't evangelization. This may be publicity, but evangelizing is when you allow the Holy Spirit to guide you.
Pope Francis also said that it is not enough to know the Scriptures to find God. It is necessary to have a personal encounter with Jesus.
