At his first Mass of the year in Casa Santa Marta, the pope spoke about politics. He asked for Christians to reflect on if they pray for politicians or only criticize them.

POPE FRANCIS
“Which of us has prayed for people in government? Which of us has prayed for parliamentarians, so that they might reach an agreement and guide the nation forward? It seems that the patriotic spirit doesn’t enter into prayer life. Only criticism, hate, fighting, and it ends there.”

The pope also reminded us that it's good to speak with people with differing opinions without humiliating them. He asked to always pray for others.
