This is the plane that takes the pope to Africa. It is called Giovanni Battista Tiepolo.
The pope arrived by car at the airport, where Italian authorities dismissed him before he boarded the plane.
The plane has four pilots and nine flight attendants serving during the trip.
The flight lasts about 10 and a half hours. Before landing in Maputo, the plane will fly over Greece, Egypt, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, and Zambia.
So, Pope Francis sends a special message from the sky to these countries.
