Pope Francis will embark on another intense and hope filled journey to Africa on Sept. 4. This time he will visit Mozambique, Madagascar and Mauritius.

He is returning to Africa as a 'pilgrim of peace, hope and reconciliation.'

POPE FRANCIS
“May the God and Father of all strengthen efforts toward reconciliation, fraternal reconciliation in Mozambique and the whole of Africa. The only hope of a solid and lasting peace. I will have the joy of sharing these convictions with you directly and see how the seed sown there by my predecessor, St. John Paul II, is growing.”

The young people of Africa have a special place in this journey. In Mozambique, the pope will attend a interreligious meeting with them; and in Madagascar he will participate in a prayer vigil.

At the beginning of July, the President of Mozambique travelled to Rome to prepare for the pope's visit to the AIDS care center run by the Sant'Egidio Community in Maputo.

In Madagascar, the pope will visit a Discalced Carmelite monastery and meet again with Pedro Opeka, priest who founded Akamasoa, a community that provides a dignified environment to thousands of people who live in the slums.

The pope will also meet with political leaders from the three countries. He will ask them to set an example in respecting the law and fighting corruption to solve the continent's problems.
