This week three judges will re-examine Cardinal George Pell's case and confirm whether his conviction will be overturned or maintained.
The 78 year-old cardinal was convicted of abuse of two minors from the 1990s; and sentenced to six years in prison. The verdict was announced in March and in June Pell filed his appeal.
The Vatican imposed restrictive measures on the cardinal. Until his innocence is clarified, he is forbidden to celebrate Mass in public; and must also avoid any contact with minors.
On the other hand, along with the civil process in Australia, a canonical process has also been launched. If convicted in this trial, he could even be expelled from the College of Cardinals or the priesthood.
