For the month of August, Pope Francis has asked Christians to pray for families, so that may be “centers of humanity.”
The institution responsible for publishing the pontiff's monthly intention is the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network. They say the pope's objective is to strengthen family ties and combat individualism, which isolates and generates 'dynamics of intolerance.'
Throughout his pontificate, the pope has repeatedly insisted the family is the first “school of true human development.” There one learns to be understanding, patient and sacrifice for others. It is where one grasps how to coexist despite differences in character.
