For the month of July, Pope Francis has asked Christians to pray for the integrity of justice. In particular, he requests judges and those involved in law to not misuse their responsibility in defending the rights of its citizens.
He says judges should imitate Jesus “who never negotiates the truth” and to make judgments “safe from favoritism and from pressures that could contaminate the decisions they have to make.”
According to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the integrity of justice is “one of the most significant victims of the scourge of corruption;” and those who suffer the most from injustices are the poorest.
