The pope received a delegation from the Guido Carli Foundation. For years it has been awarding prizes to Italians who have stood out for their professional career or talent, both inside and outside the country. Guido Carli was governor of the Bank of Italy and his granddaughter is now the president of the foundation.

Many of the laureates work in the financial sector. For this reason, Pope Francis said economy and ethics going hand in hand.

POPE FRANCIS
“It is important to reiterate the economy serves the common good if it remains linked to ethics, which is the universal measure of authentic human good.”

This year, Luca Maestri, one of Apple's chief financial officers, is among the recipients of the Guido Carli Foundation's awards.
