John Cabot University in Rome will give a Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters, honoris causa to the former papal spokesman, Greg Burke, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to communication across cultures.
The ceremony will take place on May 20. It will include Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, who will also receive a Honorary Doctorate.
Greg Burke was previously a correspondent in Rome for Time magazine and Fox News.
In 2012, during the storm against Benedict XVI, he joined the Vatican Secretariat of State as Senior Communications Advisor. In 2016, Pope Francis named him papal spokesman, a position he resigned from on December 31.
