In 2014, after being elected cardinal by Pope Francis, Card. Quevedo spoke of the importance of communities based on dialogue and peace in Mindanao in order to ensure the future of his archdiocese.
In the past, he has also stressed the importance in using the Church's resources to help serve “justice, and of the poor, for the sake of the Kingdom of God.”
