Pope Francis met with the participants of a congress organized for the 50th anniversary of the death of Cardinal Augustin Bea, promoter of the dialogue between Christians and Jews.
Cardinal Kurt Koch explained one of Cardinal Bea's legacies.
'His name was given to the center in the Pontifical Gregorian University that studies Judaism profoundly. It aims to guarantee a serious formation for Jewish-Christian dialogue.'
The pope proposed that dialogue between Christians and Jews take another step and move from the offices to the street.
POPE FRANCIS
'Friendship and dialogue between Jews and Christians need to pass beyond the boundaries of the scientific community. It would be wonderful, for example, if in the same city, rabbis and parish priests could work together with their respective communities in service to those in need. Also by promoting paths of peace and dialogue with all.'
The dialogue between Jews and Christians was relaunched during the Second Vatican Council through the document “Nostra aetate.”
