POPE FRANCIS
“The dignity of the person is not lost even when they have committed the worst of crimes. No one can be killed and deprived of the opportunity to embrace the community they wounded and made suffer.”
It was part of a message that Pope Francis sent for the World Congress Against the Death Penalty. The pope says that the worldwide effort to abolish the death penalty underlines the ability to carry out justice in other more humane ways.
This congress is organized by “Together against the Death Penalty” (ECPM) and is taking place in Brussels, Belgium from Feb. 26 to Mar. 1.
