In his daily homily at Casa Santa Marta, Pope Francis lamented that today is not much better than it was during the biblical flood in Noah's time.

“The calamities of today are more or less the same. The victims are also more or less the same. Let us think for example about the weakest: children. The many hungry and uneducated children who cannot grow up in peace. Many of them are without parents because they have been massacred in war. Child soldiers.”
Pope Francis explained that this suffering of people, especially the weakest, causes God to suffer. This is because He feels and loves with His heart.
