The pope begins his trip to United Arab Emirates by first meeting the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He is the governor of the country.
The meeting will take place in the Abu Dhabi Presidential Palace.
United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven states, formed in 1968.
Qatar and Bahrain were also part of this coalition but became independent in 1971.
