The pope has once again called for peace in the Middle East, this time before the members of the international mixed commission for the theological dialogue between the Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Churches.
POPE FRANCIS
'The Middle East must become a land of peace. It cannot continue to be a land of confrontation. May war, the daughter of power and misery, yield its post to peace, the daughter of law and justice. May our Christian brothers be recognized as citizens, with full rights and equal rights.'
This international commission studies difficult issues that separate the Catholic Church from Orthodox churches. For example, how the pope's primacy on the other bishops should be exercised. The ultimate goal is to take steps together in the face of unity.
