Shortly before 10 a.m. Pope Francis arrived at Rome's Fiumicino airport to embark on his 26th international trip to Panama.
The country was well-prepared to receive the pope, with countless locals awaiting him. His flight punctually arrived at the Tocumen airport after 13 exhausting hours... which were seen when he exited the plane.
At the foot of the runway, Pope Francis was received by the country's president, Juan Carlos Varela, accompanied by his wife.
After the Vatican's and Panama's national anthems were played, the country's civil authorities and also the bishops greeted the pope.
Just when it seemed like the pope was going to get on the official car to go to the nunciature, Pope Francis skipped the protocol to respond to the love being shown by the Panamanians, who had been waiting for him at the airport for hours.
