One of the novelties of the WYD in Panama is that for the first time, it includes a meeting with indigenous youth from all over the world.
Since Pope Francis will not be present personally, he sent them this video message giving them two pieces of advice.
POPE FRANCIS
'Be grateful for the history of your peoples and be courageous in the face of the challenges that surround you, so you can move forward full of hope in the construction of another possible world.'
The pope also asks them to reaffirm their commitment to protecting the environment and to build a more equitable and humane world.
The message was very well-received also by the 80,000 people of the Embera communities, who have inhabited Panama for centuries.
Especially, this special greeting.
POPE FRANCIS
'Goodbye, family!'
