In his daily homily at Casa Santa Marta, Pope Francis stressed the importance to love one another, even one's enemies, in order to truly love God.
POPE FRANCIS
“The spirit of the world is overcome with the spirit of faith: to believe that God is in my brother and my sister. The victory over the world is our faith. Only with so much faith can we go down this road, not with human thoughts of common sense... no, no, they are useless. They help, but they do not serve in this struggle. Only faith will give us the strength not to gossip, to pray for everyone, even for our enemies; and not to let feelings of jealousy and envy grow.”
The pope added that the spirit of the world is a spirit of vanity, of things that have no strength, no foundation and that are destined to fall.
