It was the first press conference for the new Vatican spokesman. Although the meeting was to talk about the Vatican's sports selection, he was the main attraction.
“...with the new spokesman. He's more important than me, eh?”
Alessandro Gisotti did not hide his emotion during his first words to the press.

“Obviously you can understand that I am emotional. It's the first press conference I've moderated as interim director since I received the appointment on Dec. 31.”
“Congratulations!”
“Thank you!”
Before beginning the press conference, he thanked everyone for the messages he had received after his appointment, in this delicate phase of the Vatican's communication.
ALESSANDRO GISOTTI
Vatican Spokesman
“I want to thank you for your messages of trust and esteem, not only with me, but above all with the large community of employees from the Press Office. It is of course a delicate moment, a moment that we all consider delicate.”
Journalist Alessandro Gisotti is 44 years old and has been working for 20 years in Vatican media. Until a few days ago, he was especially concerned with managing the contents of the Holy See's social networks, which in recent years have exponentially increased their followers.
His first great mission will be to accompany the pope within a few days on his trip to Panama for World Youth Day.
