Pope Francis held a meeting with the Holy See employees and their families in the Paul VI Audience Hall.

Among the many people he greeted, he spoke with this family whose child was dressed up as Santa Claus. He also received a few gifts such as these children's paintings.

At the start of his speech, Pope Francis asked an important question to everyone about where saints are found in life.

POPE FRANCIS
“This is a trait of holiness: to preserve the ability to be amazed. It is to marvel at God's gifts, at his 'surprises,' and the greatest gift is the ever new surprise of Jesus.”

As he reflected on his sixth year as pope, he said how he too has seen this 'trait of holiness' in some of the people working in the Vatican.

POPE FRANCIS
“Usually they are people who do not get noticed. Who are simple and modest, but who do so much good in their work and relationships with others. They are joyful people. However, this is not because they always laugh. No, it is because they have great interior life and they know how to pass it on to others.”

The pope added also that among the many pressures at work is the need for everyone to pay attention to the dignity of others.

POPE FRANCIS
“It is normal to get tired at work.” “However, if one reflects just a little bit on the holiness of Jesus, a little is enough. It is a small ray - a smile, attention, a courtesy, an apology - then the whole work environment becomes more 'breathable.' Isn't it true? The heavy climate that sometimes we men and women create is thinned out.”

He concluded by inviting all the people present, not to be afraid of letting the joy of Christ enter their lives despite all their defects.
