Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Auxiliary Bishop Alexander Salazar.

In a public letter released from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, they say that their independent Clergy Misconduct Oversight Board had found allegations credible 'against Bishop Salazar of misconduct with a minor,' that occurred in the 1990s. Bishop Salazar “has consistently denied any wrongdoing.”

The announcement has come after Archbishop from Los Angeles, José H. Gomez, requested a full review of all 'allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors' to update the 2004 Report of lists of accused priests.

In the letter Gomez has also called for people to remain close to the victims of abuse, through prayer and action.
