Malta's new ambassador to the Holy See is Frank Zammit, who for two years advised the country's president on Vatican relations.
Ambassador Zammit is very familiar with his new job, for both professional and personal reasons. He has written reports and documentaries on both the Vatican and John Paul II.
In some ways, it could be said that it is not the first time Frank Zammit has been at the service to the Vatican. He was an altar server one summer in St. Peter's Basilica during St. Paul VI's pontificate in 1977.

“It was a great experience. To go out of your town in Malta and come to serve, from a little church, to the universal Church. It is something amazing.”
It was not going to be the last time. He also helped organize the nativity scene on St. Peter's Square in 2016 that Malta sent to the Vatican.

“For us Maltese it was a privilege given by the Holy See. This is because up until then only Italian regions did this initiative.”
For Zammit, being back in Rome is a great privilege and he hopes to continue the good relations between the Holy See and Malta.
