With this simple but solemn gesture, María del Carmen de la Peña Corcuera has officially becomes the new ambassador of Spain to the Holy See.
Maria del Carmen has vast diplomatic experience. Until now she was consul general of Spain in Switzerland.
She has been ambassador to Ethiopia, Seychelles, Djibouti and Qatar. She has also been part of the Spanish diplomatic missions in Beijing, Brasilia, London and Tel Aviv.
The new ambassador is married and has two children. She has a degree in law and speaks four languages.
