As a photographer and graphic designer, Jordan Hainsey is fusing his faith with the arts. A seminarian in Pennsylvania, he focuses his work on religious figures. One of his most recent works is his “Saints and Blesseds” series.

“I've always been fascinated by the saints. I love their hagiography, these stories, these legends, theses traditions that have risen up around them. Likewise, I've always been fascinated by the different iconography that have come to make them who they are. I wanted to explore these familiar men and women of faith, but also take a new take on them because they mean something for us today.”
He first began really exploring this artistic expression when his parents gifted him a digital camera his senior year of high school. He went on to study Graphic design at Saint Vincent College, where he later entered seminary.
His journey to seminary is a fascinating one. Though he grew up Lutheran, it was his uncle who began bringing him to the Catholic Church. There, he says, it was the sacred arts that drew him to Catholicism. Jordan then converted as a junior in high school. Along with his faith, Jordan's passion for art grew.

“For me, faith and art go hand in hand. The Incarnation gave God a human face and artists reflect that reality through painting and sculpture. All of these different media allow artists to communicate these truths of the faith.”
His talents have led him to becoming the Webmaster and Designer for the U.S. and Canadian delegation of the Gebietsliga. This organization promotes the Cause of Canonization of Blessed Karl of Austria. His participation in this group lead him to meeting Pope Francis in 2017.

He shook my hand, looked intently into my eyes and assured me of his continued prayers. This authenticity is what has come to characterize Pope Francis.”
The pope continues to inspire Jordan in seeking beauty through one's vocation. He is also helping to display the work of other religiously inclined artists as the Exhibition Manager for seventh Juried Catholic Arts Exhibition at the St. Vincent gallery.
