Pope Francis gave a warm welcome to the President of Switzerland, Alain Berset.

Holy Father, thank you very much.

Welcome!

According to the Vatican, during the meeting they addressed issues such as 'migration, conflict mediation, nuclear disarmament and human trafficking.'

As a gift, the president gave him this replica of a 1917 poster used to ask for help for the Red Cross.

“For prisoners of war, the wounded and sick, who were Germans, French, Italians, Belgians and Austrians.”

The pope gave him the most important writings of his pontificate, and also his last message for the World Day of Peace.

'This morning I signed the message of peace for you.'

It was a very cordial meeting that included jokes. The pope presented himself as the person outside Switzerland with the most Swiss near him, in recognition of the guards who protect him.

Pope Francis and the president met a few months ago when the pope traveled to Geneva in June to meet with the World Council of Churches.
