Last Monday, while renovating the Vatican nunciature in Rome, fragments of human bones were discovered.

The Vatican asked the Italian authorities to investigate whether they are of a man or a woman, the age and the date of death.

Without more data in hand, the Italian press has linked this discovery to the disappearance of 15-year-old, Emanuela Orlandi, 35 years ago.

She was the daughter of one of John Paul II's assistants. At the time, some considered her disappearance as blackmail to the Vatican.

However, it was never known what had happened to Emanuela.

Some speculate that a priest, who was investigated as a part of the disappearance, worked in the nunciature. It could take from seven to 10 days to know the official results.
