The Supreme Court of Pakistan has withdrawn the death sentence and all charges of alleged blasphemy against Islam by Catholic mother Asia Bibi. She has been in prison since 2010.
Asia Bibi's crime was drinking from a fountain from which Muslim women also drank. She was accused of polluting the water and insulting Muhammad.
However, her acquittal has already provoked fundamentalist sectors within the country. They have threatened to kill the court judges and Asia's family.
For administrative reasons, a few days must pass before she can be released from prison.
Asia's family has fought all these years for her acquittal. In February of this year, one of her five daughters traveled to Rome to ask for help.

“In that situation, we pray to God for comfort and ask him to free our mother so she can be with us again. We are sure God will help us be with our mother again.”
Although the case has lasted almost 10 years, Asia will soon be reunited with her family again and be a free Christian.
Christians in Pakistan are a minority and under threat. In 2011, the former governor of Punjab, Salman Taseer, was assassinated for defending Bibi's cause. The same thing happened to Christian minister for minorities, Shahbaz Bhatti, months later.
