According the bishops, 'it is a duty of justice' that women become involved in 'ecclesial decision-making processes while respecting the role of the ordained ministry.'
The bishops agreed also in saying that the “Synod reaffirms that God loves every person” and renews the commitment against any discrimination and violence on sexual grounds. It adds that it is 'reductive' to define people's identity starting only from their sexual orientation.
The paragraph with the least support in the final vote (178 “Yes” and 65 “No”) is related to pastoral care for homosexuals. It says that the Church should 'accompany' homosexual Catholics, and it recognizes their 'desire to belong and contribute to the life of the community'.
