At the end of the inaugural Mass of the synod, the pope greeted the cardinals, bishops and authorities present.
He also greeted some young people and families. One special greeting was for this young boy. Pope Francis affectionately joked with him.
Thousands of people came to the square to be present at the religious ceremony.
