On Wednesday Pope Francis will celebrate a Mass in St. Peter's Square to commence the second synod of his pontificate.
The pope has summoned representatives from all Episcopal Conferences to address two important questions.
On the one hand, “faith and young people,” how to show the faith in a credible an attractive way.
On the other hand, “vocation.” In other words, how to help the youth make definitive decisions such as priesthood, religious life, marriage or lay celibacy.
Some 275 bishops and 50 young people will participate. It is especially important for the first time in history two bishops from Mainland China are attending.
The Synod will last 25 days and will conclude on Sunday, October 28.
