It is the choir of the Shrine of the Divine Mercy and for the last five years they have been singing songs such as “a capela,” “kantičkos,” or popular Lithuanian melodies.
There are eight people in the choir, but one of its singers fell ill and could not sing to Pope Francis during his meeting with young people in Vilnius.
Their melodies are a combination of Gregorian choral music and contemporary sacred music.
They explained that the meaning of this song was “to seek forgiveness from Jesus.” The melody reflects the sound of traditional Lithuanian songs called “sutartines,” a form of polyphonic music sung by women.
