In the Angelus on Sunday, the pope reflected on the Gospel reading in which Jesus asks the apostles, 'Who do you say that I am?'
Pope Francis said this question does not allow pre-prepared answers, because one has to respond with his or her own life.
POPE FRANCIS
'The profession of faith in Jesus Christ cannot be limited to words, but must be authenticated by concrete decisions and gestures, by a life characterized by the love of God, by a great life, by a life full of love for one's neighbor.'
In addition, as the celebration of the Holy Cross was celebrated this week, the pope gave each pilgrim a crucifix. Pope Francis also gave instructions on what to do with it.
POPE FRANCIS
'Take it to your homes, to the room of your children or grandparents... It can be anywhere, but it must be seen. It is not a decorative object. It is a religious sign to contemplate with and pray before. Looking at Jesus Crucified, we see our salvation.'
In total, 40,000 of these crucifixes were distributed.
Additionally, the pope greeted a group of pilgrims from Nicaragua, who asked for help for their country's situation.
