Pope Francis welcomed the new ambassador from the Czech Republic, Václav Kolaja, for the presentation of the diplomat's credentials.
The 47-year-old former deputy foreign minister was joined by his wife and two children, though his father had prepared something special for the pope.
“It was my father who produced this. He's a glass worker. It's from Moravia, this is the oldest glass factory from Moravia. I hope you will use it.”
“Thank you so much.”
Kolaja is now officially the fifth Czech ambassador to the Holy See, representing a country with more than three million Catholics.
