The Vatican, Castel Sant'Angelo, Trevi Fountain, the Mouth of Truth... Rome is full of historical tourist attractions. It often happens that in a hurry, one only takes a photo of a place without stopping to think about its importance or the details that hide behind it.

The owner of the restaurant Bacco in Tevere wants to share with its guests, apart from a good typical Roman dish, the secrets and history of Castel Sant'Angelo, its bridge and the surroundings of the Vatican.

“This exhibition is the first time in here, so why do we do this? Because when people come in here, they want to know the history, the culture.”

“The most curious fact was when Mussolini destroyed houses in the central part of the street to link Vatican City to the city of Rome. It's a sad fact because it destroyed many homes.”

In the spirit of reconciliation from the Lateran Pacts in 1929, Mussolini wanted to create a great avenue in 1936 that would represent the new friendship between Italy and the Vatican City State, after years of disagreements. For this reason, he destroyed all houses in the well-known “Spina di Borgo.”
