Thousands of pilgrims waited for the pope in the Paul VI Audience Hall.

These young women asked him to bless a picture of the Virgin Mary.

And this person managed to take home a cap used by the pope.

Then Pope Francis continued his catechesis on the Ten Commandments, and explained the meaning of the Second: “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.”

Pope Francis said that taking God's name seriously is wanting to relate to Him. And this has important consequences.

POPE FRANCIS
“From the cross of Christ, no one can despise himself and think badly of his own existence. Nobody ever! Whatever he did. Because the name of each of us is on the shoulders of Christ. He carries us.”

The pope also sent a message of condolences to the relatives of10 hikers killed by a torrent in Calabria.

POPE FRANCIS
“While I entrust those who have died dramatically to the mercy of God, I express my closeness to their families and the injured.”

In addition, the pope bid farewell asking for prayers for his fast-approaching trip to Ireland. Pope Francis will arrive in Dublin on Saturday morning and return to Rome on Sunday.
