Like every Wednesday, thousands of pilgrims came to the Vatican to listen to the pope. Among them, this Spanish family from the city of Salamanca was deeply impacted after seeing Pope Francis.
FATHER OF THE FAMILY
“It has been very exciting, very beautiful, we have been waiting for this to arrive. I don't know, it's a very strange feeling. We left the audience with goosebumps. It's a very strange feeling, I did not think we would have this sensation.”
It was a family trip the children did not expect. The parents told them they were going to Mallorca, and they didn't know they were in Rome until their plane landed. The first thing they wanted to do in Rome is see the pope.
FATHER OF THE FAMILY
“The pope is dear to us, and we were very excited to be with him, his closeness and everything he has said.”
MOTHER OF THE FAMILY
“I believe this pope is managing to bring young people back to the Church.” “It really means more of a message of closeness, to flee from idolatry, to go to the essence of things, goodness. For me, kindness is the truly Christian message, the message of Jesus Christ.”
Their trip to Rome has only just begun. For a week, they hope to get to know the Roman history and artistic richness, on an unforgettable family vacation.
